Websites for finance and fintech

A finance site is judged on trust before anything else. It should look like a company people can leave their money with, explain the product in plain words, and lead to one clear next step.

Ask this about your site

Would a careful customer trust you after ten seconds?

A quick way to judge the site you have. Where the honest answer is no, the site is costing you customers.

  1. 01

Does it look like a company people can trust with their money?

  2. 02

Can a visitor say what you do, and for whom, after one screen?

  3. 03

Are prices, fees and risks easy to find, or does it look as if you were hiding them?

  4. 04

Is there one obvious next step, and does it work on a phone?

  5. 05

Does the site still describe the company you are today?

What makes a finance website sell

  1. Lesson 01

    Trust is the product

Nobody compares features until they believe you are safe. Who you are, who stands behind you and who already uses you come before what the product does.

  2. Lesson 02

    Clarity beats cleverness

A visitor who has to work out what you charge assumes the worst. Say the price and the catch in plain words, and they stop looking for one.

  3. Lesson 03

    One small step first

Asking for an account on the first screen loses people. A calculator, a demo or a short call is easier to say yes to.

What a good finance website gives you

  1. 01

    Trust before the first call

People decide whether you are serious before they read a word. Calm design, real names and clear figures do that work for you.

  2. 02

    Better enquiries

A visitor who understood the product and saw the price arrives ready to talk. The ones who are not a fit stop taking up your time.

  3. 03

    Fewer support questions

Fees, limits and how it works explained once, clearly, so your team stops answering the same email.

How a finance website should look and sound

Calm, mature and easy to check.

These are rules of thumb. The site itself is built around your brand, your clients and your taste.

  • Calmer colours

A restrained palette with one accent reads as stable. Loud gradients and neon read as a promotion, which is the wrong signal next to someone’s savings.

  • Plain language

Say what the product does in the words a customer would use. Jargon makes people suspect there is something to hide.

  • Numbers a reader can verify

Every figure with its date and its source, so a careful reader can check it and a quick one can trust it.

  • Real people and real credentials

Names, faces, licences and the registered company, where a visitor expects to find them.

  • Quiet motion

Movement that explains, never movement that sells. Nothing should flash on a page about money.

An answer before the phone call

A visitor who can work out the monthly cost alone trusts the result more, and reaches you already knowing what they want.

Prices with nothing to hide

Fees laid out in one table, with the small print right under the figure. Being this open is what makes a careful customer stay.

Questions

How do I know whether our site is losing us customers?

Look at where visitors leave and at what they ask afterwards. If people call to ask what you charge or what you actually do, the site is not answering. A free audit shows the three weakest points.

Our site looks dated. Is a redesign worth it?

In finance, usually yes, because looks are read as a sign of how the company is run. It does not have to be a rebuild: often the structure stays, and the look, the copy and the first screen change.

Where do the numbers on the page come from?

From your own systems or a data provider you license. The page shows the source and the date next to each figure, as the chart above does.

What it usually takes

New site or redesign

A new Webflow site, or a redesign of the one you have, designed and built by one person. Structure, copy, CMS and launch included.

Service

Custom code

Calculators, filters, multi-step forms and maps: the parts of a site that Webflow does not build on its own.

Service

Integrations

Your Webflow site connected to the tools the company already runs on: forms into the CRM, analytics that measures the right things, and consent that holds tags back.
